The Counseling Center is an outpatient treatment center for adults and adolescents seeking treatment for mental health issues (including dual-diagnosis), behavioral health, addiction, alcoholism, and co-occurring disorders associated with addiction and substance use. The Counseling Center at Clark offers a full-spectrum of individual and family counseling including Group Therapy and Psychotherapy, in addition to our state-of-the-art Intensive Outpatient (IOP) substance abuse treatment program.
Jennyfer Pierre, LPC, LCADC, Clinical Director
Clinical Director, Jennyfer Pierre, LPC, LCADC, earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from College of St. Elizabeth and her Master’s Degree in Counseling and Education from Seton Hall. A ten-year veteran working in substance use and mental health treatment, she has worked in all levels of care in various positions including Assessment Counselor, Clinician, and Primary Therapist.
As Clinical Director, Jennyfer oversees the day-to-day operations of the facility, is involved in every client’s treatment plan and sees clients individually. Between her professional and personal experience, Jennyfer understands the process and transitions throughout the journey to recovery and does everything in her power to ensure that each client can have a success story.
Paul Mehaffey, Counselor
Paul Mehaffey is a licensed professional counselor with 35 years of clinical experience in suicide assessment, crisis intervention, and therapy for depression, anxiety, substance abuse, psychological trauma, life transitions, and other women and men’s issues. Paul earned a Master of Arts degree from the City University of New York, and a Master of Science degree from New York University.
Myra Lisa Samedy, LSW, Counselor
Myra Samdy, MSW, LSW, earned her Bachelors Degree from Farleigh Dickinson University in Clinical Psychology and her Master's Degree in Clinical Social Work from New York University. She has worked in substance use and mental health treatment for the last five years and is a member of NASW (National Association of Social Workers).
After seeing loved ones struggle with addiction, Myra decided to dedicate her career to helping people recover from substance use. Although her preferred method of treatment is CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) which is a goal-oriented form of therapy that is a hands-on practical approach to recovery, she strives to build a rapport with each client as an individual to determine the exact method of treatment that would benefit them on their road to recovery.
Brianna Horvath, MA, LAC, NCC, Counselor
Counselor, Brianna Horvath, MA, LAC, NCC, received her Bachelors Degree in Family Science and Human Development and Masters Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Montclair State University. Born and raised in North Arlington, NJ, Brianna believes the substance use treatment field chose her. Throughout her education, she focused primarily on mental health but came to realize that mental health and addiction often are hand in hand. She knows when mental health issues go untreated it can often lead to self-medication resulting in addiction.
As a counselor, Brianna conducts intakes, facilitates groups, has individual sessions and of course coordinates the client’s treatment plan. She is a big believer in person-centered therapy; she finds that meeting the clients “where they are” and building on their strengths to be the most effective for successful recovery. Brianna makes it her priority to tailor each treatment plan to meet the client's individual needs.
Laura Bialek, LAC Administrative Assistant
Laura Bialek started here as an intern before she joined the team as our Administrative Assistant. In addition to her Bachelor's degree in Selected Studies in Education and Sociology and a Masters Degree in School Counseling from Syracuse University, she is currently pursuing a degree in Professional Counseling from Seton Hall University. Her goal is to become a counselor with The Counseling Center at Clark.
Laura decided to pursue a career in substance abuse treatment during an internship at a methadone clinic. She knew that people didn’t have to suffer the way they were at the clinic and wanted to get in a position where there is genuine recovery. The best part of her job is seeing the clients keep coming back and watching them progress on their road to recovery.
Tom Roskin, Community Outreach
Tom Roskin is the Marketing Representative for The Counseling Center throughout New Jersey and New York. Tom earned his Bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University and was born Roslyn, NY, giving him a dedication to the New York/New Jersey area that can only come from being a part of it. A dedicated family man Tom likes to spend his free time, playing golf, tennis, and working out, along with catching up on some reading, and of course spending quality time with his family.

The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is an intense, focused experience designed to enable sober and productive living, utilizing evidence-based, state of the art treatment methods combined with 12 Step principles.
